NEAL CONAN, Host: Seventy-five hundred union coal miners are on strike on four states against the nation's largest coal producer. The strike by the United Mine Workers began three weeks ago, and the parties in the dispute have yet to begin bargaining over the terms of a new contract. NPR's Cheryl Devall reports now on the effects this strike may have on the future of the U.S. coal industry.
