LIANE HANSEN, Host: Four hundred Haitians were allowed to immigrate
to the United States this past week after their boat turned up just
four miles off the Florida coast. President Clinton said this did
not signal a change in U.S. policy, but used the occasion to call
for tougher economic sanctions against the military rulers of Haiti.
Haiti is home to 25-year-old Edwidge Danticat [sp]. She lived there
until she was 12 when she joined her parents in New York City, where
