Over 2 Million Angolans Suffer Endemic Goitre, XINHUA

LUANDA, May 9 (Xinhua) -- Over 2 million people, mainly women and
children in the central and eastern parts of Angola, are suffering from
the endemic goitre, an official source said here on Tuesday.

According to a press release from United Nations Children's Fund
(UNICEF) in Luanda, the provinces of Bie, Lunda-norte, Lunda-sul and Cuando
Cubango are the most seriously affected regions. The insufficient use of
the iodized salt, the restricted flow of goods and the poor development
