Qld: Clean up underway for blue green algae outbreak

A clean-up is underway along south east Queensland beaches after a large outbreak of
a rare form of blue green algae.

Two patches of the algal bloom have been found.

The most severe is eight square kilometres long in Deception Bay, north of Brisbane,
and is already being washed ashore.

The other patch, covering 30 square kilometres, is further east off Amity Banks, near
North Stradbroke Island.
