Fed: Aust becoming a global pariah, says ACTU

CANBERRA, March 31 AAP - Australia was becoming a global pariah for ignoring international
human rights, ACTU secretary Greg Combet said today.

The International Labour Organisation (ILO) brought down a report overnight highly
critical of the 1996 Workplace Relations Act (WRA). It followed complaints from the ACTU
and international unions in the wake of the 1998 waterfront dispute.

The committee said the government placed unfair restrictions on picketing, violated
workers' collective bargaining rights ...
