FIVE people living near the site of the Cobalt-60 radiation leak have
been found to have an abnormally low blood count, according to Samut Prakan
Hospital.

The hospital and the Samut Prakan Provincial Public Health Office
yesterday sent a medical team to provide check-ups for everyone living
within a 50-metre radius of the spot where waste Cobalt-60 was discovered.

According to the team, about 500 people turned up to be checked. The
preliminary blood tests showed that five had abnormally low white blood
cell counts, lower than 5,000 cells per cubic millimeter.
