SA: The desert blooms as Lake Eyre gets wet

ADELAIDE, Feb 28 AAP - Australia's early European explorers were convinced the continent
held an inland sea.
If they came this year they would have been right.
South Australia's Lake Eyre - a 1.3 million-hectare salt pan which normally struggles
to justify the title "Lake" - is making up for its regular aquatic deficit in spectacular
style this season.
Desert Parks district ranger Pearce Dougherty said the recent tropical rain in South
Australia's north had filled about half the lake, ...
