Qld: Cooper set to end political career at next election

BRISBANE, Oct 24 AAP - Long-serving Queensland National Party MP Russell Cooper will
retire at the next state election.

In a statement today, the opposition primary industries spokesman said he was quitting
politics after 30 years to make way for new faces.

"I have decided to stand aside in favour of a fresh face and fresh ideas," he said.

Mr Cooper has warned non-Labor forces in the Coalition to stick together and not to
indulge in petty point scoring.
