Lawyers urge appeals court to give Yahweh early release.
Appelate lawyers have called for early release of Yahweh Ben Yahweh and six of his followers, arguing that the judge who sent them to jail improperly influenced the jury to reach guilty verdicts.
Albert Z. Levin, attorney for sect member Robert Beasley, last Wednesday accused Judge Norman C. Roettger of swaying a split, 12-member jury to convict the sect leader of murder conspiracy charges.
