`Drapetomania' puts urban blues on stage.

The provocative Quraysh Ali & Drapetomania, who performed at the newly-opened Club Passim, is everything one would hope for from their name.

Artists of the Afrikan Diaspora, these hearty young men and women from Chicago stomp and play an urban blues that does their city proud. But where they really live up to their name is in their poetic take on how black America continues to make its escape from hell holes.

The word "drapetomania" is taken from the vocabulary of Southern slave holders bewildered as to why ...
