LIKE THE metamorphosis of a butterfly, art continued to rejuvenate
and blossom throughout history. And with the death of a celebrated artist,
another was born to etch a new imprint of mastery.
At a time when Ingres, Delacroix, Manet, Monet, Courbet and Degas were
impregnating new concepts and innovations in world art, a new artist by
the name of George Pierre Seurat was to become a maestro of his own kind.
Born in 1859, Seurat encompassed all that his home country, France,
