DC Showing Renowned French Painter

WASHINGTON (AP) --He was Jean-Auguste-Dominique Ingres, 66, one of the most renowned French painters of the 1800s.

She was 24, the flirty wife of a young diplomat. Not much more is known. But Ingres' seductive vision of Louise Albertine de Broglie, Viscountess Othenin d'Haussonville, stands out in an exhibit at the National Gallery of Art: ``Portraits by Ingres: Image of an Epoch.''

It is this country's first show of Ingres portraits.
