Venturi Is Presidents Cup Captain

IRVING, Texas (AP) -- If the American team lacks enthusiasm about the next Presidents Cup, it won't come from the top. Ken Venturi was glowing Wednesday when he was introduced as U.S. captain for the 2000 matches.

``To be captain is something that was only made in dreams,'' Venturi said.

Venturi, the 1964 U.S. Open champion and a golf analyst for CBS Sports for 31 years, will take charge of a team that looked lifeless in a 20{-11{ loss to the International team last year at Royal Melbourne in Australia.
