Miami Museum Unveils Rich Slice of Jewish Life.

MIAMI -- The year is 1854. A New York Jewish agency resettles two brothers from Kiev in Fernandina Beach, a small town on the northeast Florida coast. Their jobs: to work in an oyster factory. An unusual place for observant Jews, perhaps, but these are unusual times. A few miles up the coast, eight Jewish men seeking a minyan hear of the brothers. They send for them, and the minyan is now complete. One man becomes the state's largest cattleman and names his ranch "Bar Mitzvah."
