Mia Hamm Deals With Celebrity Status

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) -- In another heady week for the U.S. women's soccer team, Mia Hamm found there was honor -- and humor -- in being the star.

Hamm, the most famous women's player in the world, was due to have a massive building dedicated in her name at Nike's world headquarters in suburban Portland. So the day before, her team taped up signs around the hotel declaring the Mia Hamm Drinking Fountain, the Mia Hamm Supply Closet and the Mia Hamm Thermostat.
