Bedouins of Qatar is a time capsule. It presents research performed thirty-five years ago which the author himself recognizes as "out of step with modern trends in ethnography" (p. 29). Its detailed description of Qatari Bedouin life, literally right down to the underwear, smacks of old-fashioned Orientalism.
