Claudia Iron Hawk's grandmother survived thee Wounded Knee Massacre when she was fourteen. The dead, over three hundred of them, were buried in an unmarked mass grave on a hill above Wounded Knee Creek. The Iron Hawks never left the desolate corner of the Pine Ridge Reservation where most of their ancestors were murdered 105 years ago by the drunken remains of Custer's 7th Cavalry.
