(Badger Herald) (U-WIRE) MADISON, Wis. -- Professor Thad Walker and a pair of UW-Madison students are working on a way to bring motion and matter to a screeching halt.

No, they are not the Madison Police on Party Patrol, they are physicists hunting down the elusive absolute zero.

At zero degrees Kelvin, or about 460 degrees below zero Fahrenheit, all molecular movement (a measure of heat) ceases and atoms take on entirely different properties.

Instead of behaving like particles, atoms begin to behave more like waves.
