Lahore Declaration is first step toward reconciliation

Lahore, the Pakistani city just across the volatile border with India, dominated the collective imagination of the subcontinent last month.

Prime Minister Atal Behari Vajpayee de a historic visit to the city when he boarded a bus in Amritsar on the Indian side and drove across the Wagah border check post on Feb. 20 to be received, and yes, embraced, by his Pakistani counterpart Nawaz Sharif.
