Fine Frederick Douglass biography has disturbing elements.
William McFeely's biography, Frederick Douglass, is a fine book. In his research, no river was deep enough, no mountain high enough to keep him from obtaining material on the subject.
While the research is exhaustive, the writing is also to be commended without compromising his wholly nonfiction subject.
