Sri Lanka Elects Asia's 5th Woman Leader.

A woman dressed in a blue-and-white silk sari, with frills around her waist, looked reflective and somewhat overawed as she knelt in front of her old mother.

That gesture, coming minutes after Chandrika Kumaratunga was sworn in Prime Minister of Sri Lanka Aug. 19, seemed to complete a circle of destiny for a family whose fortunes have been entwined with the island nation's.
