Celebrating 25 years of Sobriety
Juel Fairbanks Sr., an Ojibwe from Cass Lake, was an iron worker who had his own issues with the bottle. But on December 4th, his namesake, The Juel Fairbanks Chemical Dependency Services, celebrated its 25th year of serving the American Indian community. Fairbanks himself, fell from a building while on the job and died before the sobriety center was built. But the halfway house has been expanding its services and membership since its start, proof that Fairbanks' vision is alive and well in St. Paul, Minnesota.
