Another Role for Roberto Benigni?

At the same time as Mr. Benigni's burlesque Holocaust fable comes the story of a real-life Italian whose heroism during the war. Journalist Enrico Deaglio's "The Banality of Goodness" (University of Notre Dame Press) tells the story of Giorgio Perlasca, an Italian businessman caught in Budapest on the eve of the Nazi invasion in 1944. Perlasca found a safe haven in the Spanish Embassy, where he was given Spanish citizenship papers, only to begin volunteering with the delegation's diplomatic effort to save Hungarian Jews.
