Ravi Coltrane to release CD at dad's party

September 23rd marks John Coltrane's 72nd birthday. In keeping with its mission, The John W. Coltrane Cultural Society will sponsor its annual celebration on Monday 6 p.m. to 9 a.m., at the Philadelphia Clef Club of Jazz and Performing Arts, Broad and Fitzwater Streets.

Coltrane's son, Ravi, who also plays tenor and soprano saxophones, will be the guest of honor, playing cuts from his new CD, "Moving Pictures."
