Study shows more teachers have academic degrees

Today's teachers are older and wiser than teachers previously, and most of them are women, according to a Central Bureau of Statistics study which indicates a higher level of academic achievement and an older average age among teachers.

The percentage of teachers who have at least a bachelor's degree increased some 36 percent between 1993- 98, according to the study. This is largely due to incentives offered by the Education Ministry and salary increases available to those who opt for such studies.
