FED: Flight plan system should note pilot rating BASI

BRISBANE, April 21 AAP - Aircraft flying into bad weather were often flying into danger
because flight plans did not show what instruments the pilots were qualified to use, the
Bureau of Air Safety Investigations (BASI) said.

In a safety advisory notice issued yesterday, BASI said the current flight plan format were
misleading, with air traffic controller able to assume the presence of a particular instrument
on board meant the pilot was qualified to use it.
