QLD: New sugar act in January, says minister

BRISBANE, March 23 AAP - Legislation controlling Queensland's multi-billion dollar sugar
industry would come into force next year, Primary Industries Minister Henry Palaszczuk said
today.

Mr Palaszczuk did not spell out details but said the new Queensland Sugar Act would
implement recommendations of the Sugar Industry Review Working Party handed down in November
1996.

He said the Australian Cane Farmers Association, Canegrowers and the Australian Sugar
Milling Council had been "closely involved" in ...
