SA: First comet for the year discovered in Australia

ADELAIDE, Jan 16 AAP - An amateur astronomer has discovered the first official comet of the
year - but this time it wasn't an accident.

South Australian stargazer Justin Tilbrook discovered the comet, since named C-1999 A1
Tilbrook, last Tuesday while searching the sky with his home-made telescope near Clare in the
state's south.

The discovery came less than two years after Mr Tilbrook discovered by accident his first
comet, Comet Tilbrook.
