FED: NZ frigate decision an embarrassment for Australia

CANBERRA, Dec 1 AAP - Australia has been severely embarrassed by New Zealands decision to
shelve purchase of a third multi-million dollar ANZAC frigate despite extensive lobbying by
the coalition and by the former Labor government.

Australian governments have persistently lobbied New Zealand to buy a third frigate and to
upgrade its shrinking armed forces.

That was brought home when New Zealands peacekeeping force in Bosnia was regarded as so
