Caedmon's Call hopes to transcend stereotype at U. Alabama

(The Crimson White) (U-WIRE) TUSCALOOSA, Ala. -- In the 7th century, according to the Venerable Bede, a cowherder at an English monastery fell asleep in a stable, had a divine vision and woke up with the ability to sing beautiful hymns about God.
Wednesday at 7:30, a band with that cowherd's namesake, Caedmon's Call will perform at the U. Alabama BAMA Theatre, but they're downplaying the religion that Caedmon so enthusiastically promoted.
