TYLER, Texas (AP) _ Houston Abel, a longtime federal bankruptcy judge and magistrate, died after collapsing at home Monday. He was 67.

Abel worked in the U.S. Attorney's office from 1968 to 1979, when he was appointed federal magistrate. He was appointed to the bankruptcy court in 1985, where he remained until his death.

An Army veteran of the Korean War, Abel worked in the oil industry until 1961 before he studied law. Lucien Bodard
