BRUSSELS, Belgium (AP) _ A court convicted a priest Thursday of sexually abusing young boys and ruled that the head of Belgium's Roman Catholic Church was liable for civil damages in the case.

The correctional court sentenced the Rev. Andre Vanderlyn to six years in jail and ordered Cardinal Godfried Danneels and a local bishop to pay $14,000 to a 12-year-old victim.
