TIRANA, Albania (AP) _ Gunfire broke out today and tanks lumbered through Albania's capital after protesters carried the bodies of a slain politician and two others to the office of Prime Minister Fatos Nano, whom the opposition blames for the deaths.

The shooting began a day-long insurrection in which gunmen seized government television, the parliament and at least four government tanks. Thousands of people milled about central Skanderbeg Square, firing weapons in the air.
