HUMAN rights cannot be ignored in the rush to attain peace, the head of Amnesty International warned yesterday, on a visit to the Gaza Strip to discuss charges that Palestinian policemen torture detainees.

The group also accused Israel of detaining hundreds of Palestinian prisoners without charge and systematically torturing prisoners during interrogations.
