SA: Lake Albert to be fished out before salinity turns toxic

MENINGIE, SA, August 28 AAP - Commercial fishermen on the lower reaches of the River
Murray are preparing to trawl every last fish out of Lake Albert before they die.

Once covering an area of more than 15,000 hectares, Lake Albert has been reduced to
an average depth of one metre and is expected to recede even further now that it has been
cut off from Lake Alexandrina.

The South Australian government had been pumping water from Lake Alexandrina into Lake
