TANZANIA: STUDY FINDS POVERTY PERSISTS DESPITE ECONOMY'S RISING

DAR ES SALAAM, Tanzania, Dec. 4, 2008 (IPS/GIN) -- Tanzania is
lagging on key development goals even though the east African
nation has benefited from a growing economy, according a newly
released household budget survey.
The key goals cited were on safe water, income and health.
Supported by budding financial markets, the proportion of
Tanzania's population living below the poverty line dropped to 33.3
percent last year from 35.7 percent in 2000-2001, stated the 2007
