Vic: Premier "open" to idea of drop box for unwanted babies

MELBOURNE, July 25 AAP - Distressed new mums may eventually be able to abandon their
unwanted infants legally at a baby drop service, with Victorian Premier John Brumby saying
he's "open" to the idea.

The proposition follows the heartbreaking discovery of a newborn baby boy's body in
a shopping bag at a country bus stop near Shepparton on Tuesday.

Mr Brumby said there had been no proposals to the government for a baby drop service,
