Hindus observe nine-night fest

KUALA LUMPUR: Hindu devotees nationwide began celebrating the Navarathiri festival or Festival of Nine Nights yesterday.
It is celebrated with elaborate decorations in the temples and at the family altar. During the nine days, temples are filled with devotees, particularly women.
The Navarathiri festival celebrates God as Sakthi or primordial energy in the feminine form as the Mother Goddess.
