Judo: Japan could lose say in world body

TOKYO, Sept 9 AFP - Japan could soon lose its influence on judo because of a power
struggle in the sport's ruling body, even though the martial art evolved from the feared
fighting skills of its samurai warriors.

Former heavyweight great Yasuhiro Yamashita is thought likely to lose his seat on the
International Judo Federation's main committee, leaving it without a Japanese representative
for the first time in its 56-year history.

Yamashita will seek to be re-elected Monday in Rio de Janeiro ...
