Wednesday, June 13, 2007 -- Applause and shouts of "Here comes the next prime minister!" greeted Labor Party leadership candidate Ehud Barak as he shook hands with supporters in front of the Givatayim polling station on Tuesday.

Wearing a suit jacket but no tie in the last leg of the Labor leadership primary against his rival and political newcomer MK Ami Ayalon, Barak responded that his ambitions on this day were more modest.
