Shareholders of Sapporo Holdings, Japan's third-largest beer maker, voted to approve anti-takeover defenses aimed at making a hostile bid by Warren Lichtenstein's Steel Partners Japan Strategic Fund more difficult. A majority of attending shareholders or their proxies supported the measures, a Sapporo spokesman, Jingo Kikuchi, said in a press briefing Thursday.
