Fed: Regulate surgical animal husbandry: RSPCA

CANBERRA, July 5 AAP - Australia should move quickly to regulate surgical animal husbandry
procedures through a national system of professional qualifications, RSPCA chief Hugh
Wirth says.

Dr Wirth has raised the lack of regulation for practices including the docking of sheeps'
tails, mulesing and cattle spaying - conducted without anaesthetic - as a key failure
in the nation's animal welfare strategy.
