THIS week, Dewan Bahasa dan Pustaka (DBP) celebrated its Golden Jubilee. It is a time for celebration as well as reflection. To be sure, there is much to celebrate. Through the 50 years of its existence, the DBP, as it is fondly called, has achieved several milestones.

The main achievement, if we may call it that, is the co- operation between DBP Malaysia, Pusat Bahasa Indonesia and DBP Brunei in streamlining the terminologies of the three countries.
