Soc: Valenciennes back in Ligue 1 13 years after VA-OM case

PARIS, April 28 Reuters - Valenciennes won promotion to Ligue 1 today 13 years after
being engulfed in France's biggest match-fixing case with Olympique Marseille.

The northern club won 3-0 at second-placed Sedan to secure a place in the top three
with two games left to play.

The 1993 VA-OM scandal saw Valenciennes players bribed to lose a league game just days
before Marseille were due to play in the Champions League final against AC Milan. Marseille
