Pulalun, appealed Monday to President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo to help solve
the assassination of another sultan in the southern Philippines.

Gunmen shot dead Sultan Datu Amir bin Muhammad Baraquir, the sultan of
Maguindanao, and wounded his brother in an attack on Jan. 11 outside his
house in Sultan Kudarat, police said.

"The killing could trigger a dangerous precedent that could trigger more
violence. The perpetrators must be put behind bars soon," Palalun said.
