THERE have been Press reports recently of boric acid being detected in yellow noodles following tests conducted by the Ministry of Health on seven samples.
It will come as no surprise that this chemical is present in many more samples of food if testing is expanded.
We brought up the issue of boric acid in food in 1984.
It was used for preserving the shelf life of fresh foodstuff, and could also be used to camouflage staleness.
