In an ideal world, Althia Collins may say, there is no need for something
like a Muslim sorority. Muslim women could join any of the half a dozen
sororities at Syracuse University instead of America's first Muslim
sorority, Gamma Gamma Chi, Collins may add.

But given the fact that many Muslim women, particularly from foreign
countries ranging from Turkey to India to the United Kingdom need to bond
in a world where they seem to be marginalized is a great reason for a
Muslim sorority, Collins has said in many interviews. She is the president
of Gamma Gamma Chi.
