Mexico says drug traffickers _ not its own soldiers _ were the uniform-clad men with a Humvee who reportedly protected a marijuana-smuggling foray into U.S. territory, presidential spokesman Ruben Aguilar said Wednesday.

He said that the FBI agreed with that view, but did not elaborate.
