Ghulam Nabi Azad, who is from the Doda district of Jammu and Kashmir, will
take over from Mufti Mohammad Sayeed as chief minister of Jammu and Kashmir
on November 2 - exactly three years after the Mufti took oath of office as
chief minister.
Mehbooba Mufti, daughter of the outgoing chief minister and a potential
candidate for the deputy chief minister's post, told India Abroad, "We are
happy that a decision has been taken, ending the uncertainty over whether
Mufti would continue in office or whether there would be a Congress chief
minister at the helm of affairs ...
