The oil company Total said Tuesday that it would pay 5.2 million to settle a French legal complaint charging that it had used forced labor to build a natural gas pipeline in Myanmar.Total said the agreement would end French legal proceedings begun in 2002 by eight citizens of Myanmar who claimed that they had been forced to work on the pipeline by the Myanmar Army ''and that their work could be classified as forced labor.''The plaintiffs all now live in Thailand.
